DesBarrres Manor Inn 172 Birthday Contest Winner Announced

After receiving more than 400 entries suggesting how the Authentic Seacoast™ Resorts could recognize Nova Scotia’s oldest inn on its 172 birthday, the DesBarres Manor Inn 172 Getaway Contest winner is announced.

The Authentic Seacoast Resorts™ today announced Frank Tibbets of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia as the winner of the DesBarres Manor Inn 172 Getaway Contest.

Built in 1837 for Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice W.F. DesBarres, DesBarres Manor is a luxury bed & breakfast inn located in the heart of the charming seacoast village of Guysborough. With 10 luxurious guest rooms, a restaurant named Nova Scotia’s 2008 Cuisine of the Year and six acres of grounds for relaxation, DesBarres Manor is a leading member of the Authentic Seacoast™ Resorts, a collection of historic vacation properties at the head of Nova Scotia’s Chedabucto Bay, the largest bay on the Atlantic Coast.

“We had hundreds of people suggest ideas to celebrate DesBarres Manor’s 172nd birthday,” stated Audrey Firth, General Manager of the Authentic Seacoast™ Resorts in making the announcement. “From picnics to grand balls, history nights, garden parties, fireworks, lobster feasts, geocaching, teas, victory gardens, tree planting and more, we were literally overwhelmed by the number of entries and the creativity and the fun people had in making suggestions in how we can recognize Nova Scotia’s grand dame of accommodations. With so many people participating, the contest became a celebration of DesBarres Manor Inn.”

The contest winner, Frank Tibbets of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia suggested an afternoon picnic on the Manor grounds with Nova Scotia seafood and wine and games for the children. Mr. Tibbets will receive a DesBarres Manor Inn bed & breakfast getaway for two.

Andree Gracie of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia received the runner-up prize of a $25 gift certificate for Skipping Stone Crafts & Gallery. Ms. Gracie suggested a period costume ball with foods and dance instruction representing the time when DesBarres Manor was built.

DesBarres Manor Inn and the Authentic Seacoast™ Resorts thank everyone who participated in the contest for helping make DesBarres Manor’s 172nd birthday so special.
