Authentic Seacoast Company in Good Spirits with Artisan Distillery Announcement

With support from the Province of Nova Scotia, the Authentic Seacoast Company is creating a new artisan distillery in Guysborough, Nova Scotia. The $2.7 million Authentic Seacoast Distilling Company project will produce vodka, whisky and Nova Scotia's favourite spirit, rum, in a new facility on the Guysborough harbour.

"Artisan distilleries are experiencing rapid growth in North America as consumers seek quality products that provide a connection to the people and place from which they originate," said Authentic Seacoast Company Proprietor Glynn Williams. "From our pristine coastal location, the Authentic Seacoast Distilling Co. will create unique spirits that can serve as ambassadors for Nova Scotia around the world."

"For the past number of years, the Authentic Seacoast has given the people of Guysborough the opportunity to stay in their community - to live, work and raise their families right here," said Jim Boudreau, MLA for Guysborough-Sheet Harbour in making the announcement on behalf of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris. "You are to be applauded for your commitment to sustainable growth, fair trade principles and using local products whenever possible."

The Province of Nova Scotia has contributed $1.191 million towards the project which is estimated to create up to 35 new jobs in the community over the next five years.

The announcement of the Authentic Seacoast Distilling Co. follows announcements earlier this year by the Authentic Seacoast Company stating their plans to restore Guysborough's proud trading history with the launch of the Full Steam Coffee Co. and Harbour Belle Bakery.
